A plant of the Compositae family, it easily recognizable by its characteristic ragged green leaves, with a distinctive, slightly bitter taste.
Thanks to the high quantity of fibres, it has a satisfying and mildly laxative effect. The presence of vitamin A and C mean it is diuretic and depurative, stimulating the function of the liver and kidneys, whilst the mineral salts (manganese, copper, iron, potassium and calcium) mean that this plant has a remineralizing and antianemic effect.
