Fennel is a herb belonging to the Apiaceae family. Known about since ancient times for its aromatic properties, it was introduced into vegetable crops around the 16th century.
This herb is rich in fibre, mineral salts (potassium, calcium, phosphorus, which are all great for strengthening bones and preventing cramping and fatigue) and vitamins A, B and C (effective in maintaining healthy skin, regulating eye function, supporting the nervous and cardiovascular system, and strengthening the immune system). Fennel also has detoxifying, diuretic and digestive effects and is effective against abdominal swelling.
