Rocket is an annual plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family, which cabbage and cauliflower also belong to. Since the ancient Roman times, it’s been used mainly for its aphrodisiac qualities, as well as being recognised as a diuretic and natural remedy to protect the stomach.
It has one of the highest fibre contents, and contains substances which are important for maintaining good health (calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus and vitamins, C and B in particular). Its beneficial effects derive from the bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing and antioxidant functions that can be found in its components. In the kitchen it is very much appreciated for its strong, spicy and pleasant taste, as well as for its fresh aroma.
